Washi paper chandelier, the Japanese art of paper overhead

The Voiles chandelier is currently the only ceiling-hung piece in the collection. Its structure follows the same principle as the suspended voiles: several hand-woven washi paper panels, cascading down a metal frame. Unlike a glass or crystal chandelier, the light doesn't reflect - it passes straight through the Japanese paper and spreads evenly across the room, with no harsh shadows. Céline Wright makes each chandelier to order, in Montreuil, which means the diameter and number of paper panels can be adjusted to the ceiling height. For a dining room, an entrance hall or a stairwell, the washi paper chandelier offers a softer, lighter alternative to a traditional chandelier.
