Washi paper pendant lights, handmade in Montreuil

For over 30 years, Céline Wright has hand-crafted pendant lights in washi paper, the traditional Japanese paper woven from kozo fibres. The collection includes a dozen or so designs, from the suspended cocoon to the more sculptural lines of Diva and Envol, through to the feathered mobile of L'Oiseau. Each frame is built on a lightweight metal structure, then dressed sheet by sheet in Montreuil. Light passes through the washi without ever glaring, spreading into a soft, enveloping glow no fabric or glass shade can match. The pendants come in several sizes, suited to a living room, a dining room or a stairwell. For a one-off piece, Céline Wright also offers bespoke customisation, from the paper's colour to the frame's diameter.
